Graduate Admission Requirements
All application requirements are reviewed holistically by the academic department.
Kettering University does not discriminate by reason of an individual’s race, color, sex, creed, age, handicap, or national origin. No one is admitted to a Kettering University Graduate Program without a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited U.S. university/college or it’s International equivalent.
Transcripts
- Upon matriculation you will be required to submit final official transcripts and degree certificates.
- Kettering University undergraduate students do not need to submit their Kettering transcripts, but are required to submit transcripts from any other university.
- It is highly recommended that applicants with international credentials submit a professional evaluation. We advise that you use Educational Perspectives but you may select any service that is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES). Credential evaluations expedite the decision process and assist in determining funding award offers. In some cases, international students may be required to submit a credential evaluation -- the Admissions Office will contact students when an evaluation is required. This evaluation will be at the expense of the student.
- Credentials not issued in English must be translated by a professional translation service such as any found here: http://www.atanet.org.
- For Indian credentials, consolidated marksheets are not acceptable. Please provide individual marksheets except in the case of those coming from any of the IITs.
Letters of Recommendation
When applying, you will be prompted to enter email addresses of those individuals providing your letters of recommendation. Kettering University will contact these individuals directly to provide a recommendation letter. Alternatively, these individuals may email free-form letters of recommendation to graduateadmissions@2szx.net.
English Language Proficiency
The admissions committee generally looks for a composite GRE score of at least 300 (verbal and quantitative reasoning) along with an analytical writing score of 3.0.
International applicants whose native language is not English and who have not earned a bachelor’s degree from a U.S. institution are required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), International English Language Testing System (IELTS), or complete level 112 at an approved ELS center. Please have official scores sent to Kettering University's Office of Admissions, Code 1246. Photocopies will not be accepted.
Our minimum score requirements are:
- TOEFL - 79
- IELTS - Minimum Band score of 6.0
- Duolingo English Test - 105 (followed by a satisfactory spoken interview with a Kettering University TESOL trained instructor is sufficient if TOEFL and IELTS are unavailable)
Students that do not meet English language proficiency requirements are encouraged to continue their application to Kettering University. Students found to be academically admissible may be conditionally admitted to the University. Conditionally admitted students are welcome to matriculate once proof of English proficiency has been provided.
